ITeach 2006: Designing and Refining Our Teaching

The next ITeach symposium will be held on January 12, 2006. This one-day event, themed "Designing and Refining Our Teaching," features presentations and discussions plus a reception with refreshments, meals and snacks for participants.

Session topics planned for the 2006 symposium include peer-led team learning programs in the sciences, using GIS in teaching, teaching with tablet PCs in Chemistry, using digital tools in humanities, electronic response devices ("clickers") in A&S courses, and evaluation techniques for curriculum development and grants. An opening plenary will bring together faculty from various disciplines in A&S for a panel discussion about developing your teaching.   Gina Frey, Director of the Teaching Center, demonstrates the classroom SMARTboard at ITeach 2004

January 13 has been set aside for Teach participants who would like to try some of the tools and resources presented at the symposium. Several facilities will be staffed with technology assistants for a walk-in session at your convenience to put course materials on Telesis, scan pictures or other materials for your courses or try video and audio editing software. More information will be available soon about this ITeach workshop day.

As with previous symposia, ITeach 2006 is free of charge for Washington University faculty and registering for the event places your name in a drawing for a selection of attendance prizes including a new laptop computer. Registration will open in early October. For more information, please see http://iteach.wustl.edu.
